Become a Mindful Warrior - The Battle for Attention

“I’m an avid reader of all types of books and the mindset of every successful person say the same thing. One of my favorite books is, “The Body Keeps the Score,” by Dr. Vessel Van Coke

If you haven’t read hundreds of books, then you’re functionally illiterate.

Welcome to my blog, where I share insights from over three decades of experience as a licensed clinical mental health counselor. Today, we’ll dive into developing a Mindful Warrior mindset – an idea inspired by influential thinkers like Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates.

The core idea behind this Mindful Warrior mindset is understanding that our attitude is entirely within our control. As Robert Greene emphasizes, how we view any situation is up to us. This aligns closely with Viktor Frankl’s assertion about choosing one’s attitude being the last human freedom left even under dire circumstances, such as surviving Nazi concentration camps. Dr. Viktor Frankl, indeed, is a Mindful Warrior.

The power of a Mindful Warrior lies in our ability to choose how we respond to situations. Regardless of external circumstances, we have total control over our reactions – a concept echoed throughout various books and teachings I’ve encountered on personal growth and freedom.

Become a Mindful Warrior
The power of a Mindful Warrior lies in choosing your path.
Developing this mindful warrior mindset involves critical attributes for success, such as maintaining an optimistic attitude regardless of challenges faced, courage, confidence, resilience, having a healthy sense of humor, and rejecting victim mentality, among others.

Physical health plays an integral role in achieving overall well-being, including regular exercise and diet for survival and improving mental health.

Viewing obstacles as growth opportunities instead of setbacks is a vital trait for success, according to M. Scott Peck’s book The Road Less Traveled, which proposes embracing life difficulties rather than expecting it easy.

Clayton Christenson’s book “How Will Your Life Be Measured?” discusses finding purpose, which often emerges over time, suggesting open-mindedness towards changes if things aren’t planned.

It’s important to seize each day (carpe diem) and focus on physical health through regular exercise to help stay youthful longer while enhancing mental clarity vital for reading, studying, or working with clients. We are transient beings here on earth, so let’s strive to make each day count by staying healthy and making meaningful contributions.
